One very creative idea for your pool when you're done deploying it as an actual pool is to turn it into a fish-pond and fill it with your selected seafood (koi make specifically good applicants.) Naturally, ensure you don't actually swim in it, as it'll essentially be considered a living space no longer a pool, and fill it up enough so that there surely is not really a huge drop between the top of the pool and the surface of the water.
